11 Colorfully Masculine Bachelor Pads

Alright people, let’s talk bachelor pads in this series on breaking design rules. Not the lone futon, poster filled wall, bean bag doubles as a table kind of bachelor pad (no judgement). But the dark, mysterious, sensual, easy going domaines which we have come to believe all bachelor pads should be.

Continuing with this theme of breaking rules, we’re going to take a look at bachelor pads that defy common design guidelines, that keep color to a minimum when it comes to the gentleman’s abode. Specifically, we’ll look at some of the colorfully masculine bachelor pads that are catching eyes out there.

Who says a bachelor pad can’t have color?! Don’t get me wrong, I love navy blue, grey, brown and black, but bring on the brights and unexpected. The reds, purples, greens, and bright blues. I am a believer. The bachelor pad style can still be achieved with the use of brighter colors.

In fact, it already has, so let’s take a look. I’ve broken designs down by color.

Red

Brian Patrick Flynn’s design in this bachelor pad knocks it out the park with Red highlights. Sophisticated, sleek and multi-dimensional. I just love the patterns and textures used throughout.

It’s not often you find wallpaper in a bachelor pad. Kudos for breaking the rules, and doing it oh so well.

Naomi Stein’s Design of this eclectic mid-centuryish domicile also brightens the scene with a red rug and throw pillows.

This rug definitely steals the show.

Bright Blue

As you can see, I am fond of Brian Patrick Flynn designs. See how blue plays a leading role in this colorfully masculine bachelor pad.

Chrome and plaid complement this hue of blue in the home of Fashion Designer Kasper.

You may be thinking, the below is not bright blue. However, the rich hue of blue in this office, designed by Eric Miller, defies the expected, and is a wonderful surprise on the eyes.

Green

Nicole Cohen brings green onto the scene in this fun gentleman’s domaine. The jewel-toned green is the perfect highlight of this room.

See how John Yunis gives this room a sophisticated yet eclectic look with custom designed green walls.

Form and Function incorporated green beautifully into multiple areas of this bachelor pad, with bold and subtle additions.

Purple

This bachelor pad finds inspiration in various shades of purple, even fuschia! Well done!

Okay, I know I should have titled this section “Fuschia,” but it’s in the purple family, right? Design Star’s Antonio Ballatore’s bachelor pad rocks a fuschia accent wall with style. No fear of color here!

I hope that your belief in the use of color in any bachelor pad design has now been expanded. As you can see, it can be done, and done well. Be bold, defy expectations, and splash some color on those walls. Does your bachelor pad break the rules? If so, tell us how!
