Am I the only one that gets giddy about a finished mood board? Well this chic bathroom mood board and design reveal definitely brought on the excitement. There’s just something about seeing a new room start to come together on paper, or screen!

I know it’s just a plan, but this was the catalyst that kicked everything into gear, and got us that much closer to the finished product. Following this, floors were ripped out, walls were patched, and fixtures were taken out. I’ll save those projects for another post though. I do want to show you where it all began.

Powder Room Before

After completing our chic bohemian nursery, this powder room was the perfect follow up project. Smaller, manageable, and a little change of pace, especially with our new little one moving about (crawling, ahhh! How do they grow so fast??).

Our original powder room was green and traditional, however it needed a bit of a facelift. Something to brighten it up, or should I say “some things” to brighten it up. Paint, flooring, fixtures,  and art. As soon as I decided to tackle a powder room makeover, I immediately began to look at flooring options.

As you can see, the previous flooring was begging us to give it a new look. The vinyl sheet tiling had literally peeled up, creating a little mouth that called out for our attention each time we walked in.

No more ignoring its calls. It was time to do something.

Design Process

Our home is a basic builder grade design, so I wanted to add as much character as I could without having to tear down walls. Also, we plan to sell it in the near future so my goal was to go with something classic, that has a little bit of edge. When I came across this tile at Floor & Decor, I was sold. I love a good herringbone pattern, and the prices at Floor & Decor are so reasonable, therefore it didn’t take much convincing to use this as the basis for the remaining design.

After the classic white herringbone tile floor was determined, I built all other elements around it. I immediately knew dark grout was the way to go to give the room a little edge, which led me to matte black fixtures. In order to provide a soft contrast to the modern edge of these options, I wanted the walls to be bright and charming, but calm. What better way to go than with blush?

I was hesitant to show this plan to my husband, especially the blush paint color choice, but he was encouraging of the design. Woot woot! That’s all I needed to move full steam ahead.

I must say this took a bit more work than I intended, but I can honestly say I’m not surprised. Any time you’re ripping up floors and removing plumbing, a hiccup or two are bound to come your way. All you can do is roll with the punches and that’s what we did!

I seriously can’t wait to show you how this plan came to life. I hope our little chic bathroom mood board and powder room plan has added some charm to your day and inspired you to tackle your own small renovation.
