Completion just feels so good doesn’t it? I’m so glad I can say, our bright and chic small powder room makeover is complete. After what seemed like forever, this bright and happy half bath is now greeting visitors with pride. Seriously though, having running water, a flushing toilet, and a floor in one piece feels so good.

This space was just a thought months ago, and began with a simple mood board and design. After weeks of staring at the plans and contemplating everything that could go wrong, I made myself (and hubby!) tackle the floor. That sent me full steam ahead into DIY’ing everything else including the faucet, vanity light, and paint.

I realized the more we worried about the possibilities (tearing out the floor, tiling, tearing out the mirror, plumbing, etc.), the more time flew by and our unattractive and peeled vinyl floor and other items remained. It’s so easy to get hung up on possible setbacks when it comes to renovations big and small. However, the pros of a beautiful and finished space far outweigh the cons of an outdated space showing a little wear and tear. Were there setbacks? Yes, which we’ll get to, but I’d do it all again of course.

Let’s get to the good stuff.

Powder Room Before and After

I think the biggest transformation was the flooring. I absolutely love herringbone pattern, and can’t stop staring at this tile upgrade. The classic pattern paired with the blush walls are just fun to look at. However, the tiling process with this particular tile was no easy feat I must say.

Looking back, a simpler tile with less grout lines would have produced quicker results with less sweat and tears. On the up-side however, my future tiling projects should seem much easier since I tackled a difficult project first.

The blush shade was also a dramatic upgrade to the walls, giving this room with no natural light a bright and happy look. The matte black fixtures complement the floor and give the room much needed contrast.

I could go on and on about what I love about this small powder room makeover, but I’ll let you have a look. As a reminder, here’s the before.

Powder Room Source List

If you’re getting ready to tackle your own bath project, or you’re just curious about the items used, take a look below for details and sources.

1.Behr Illuminated// 2. Schoolhouse Vanity Fixture// 3. Opalhouse Hand Towel// 4. Threshold Mirror// 5. Burton Harbor Towel Ring// 6. Derengge Faucet// 7. Herringbone Tile// 8. Bluebonnets Print// 9. Sacramento Pedestal Sink// 10. Belly Basket// 11. Toilet Paper Holder

Overall, I’m super happy with the results. Getting into the process was definitely exciting, though we did experience a few unexpected setbacks. The toilet no longer fit due to the new floor height, there was no existing junction box for the vanity light, and the ceiling needed to be painted.

However, when tearing things out, you’re sure to run into some problems so I can’t say I was completely surprised. I now know how to install a toilet, faucet, junction box, and a host of other things. So, it was indeed worth it.

This powder room makeover is in the books! We’re ready to move on to the next adventure and can’t wait to tackle a new project. Hopefully a project with a little less sweat.
