What better way to come back from a hiatus than with the reveal of a nature chic nursery! Specifically, the nursery for our sweet baby girl, Charlie.

You guys, it feels like I’ve been holding on to this reveal for ages. For great reason of course! So before we jump into this tour, let’s catch up.

I am so blessed to be able to say that the past 2 years have brought so many exciting things into my life. Both getting hitched AND welcoming a new life into this world, our sweet sweet daughter. Big things people. Big things.

As I’m sure you can imagine, blogging, wedding planning, and baby planning made for quite the busy combination. Top that off with early pregnancy complications that left me feeling in pain and drained after an 8-hour work day, and you’ve got one burnt out mama.

I am the type of person that goes until I can’t go anymore, even if I think I hear God telling me to slow down. Yes, I’m working on that stubborn trait. Well, I physically couldn’t go anymore. Therefore I stopped and evaluated the most important things in my life at the time, and decided something had to go.

Chic Misfits had to take a backseat to two of the most life changing events happening in my life, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. In order to be more present and grasp the tail of those memory-making moments that were sure to fly by, I needed to make that change.

Now that I’ve had a little time to settle into this new world of ours, I’m back at it. Though blogging was on hiatus, my need to transform the spaces around me was not. In fact, designing a nursery for the first time quickly became my new obsession.

Charming prints and patterns, inspiring color combos, and stuffed animals all had me in a dreamy decorating bliss. The best part was that I had months and months to prepare. This could also be the worst part too, considering I had so much time to revise my design plans, which I did – again and again. I finally hunkered down and put together a sweet space for my sweet little.

I should preface this with a little reminder that this space was designed and completed some time ago, so some items are no longer available. However, I’ll try and provide links for what is available throughout the post, and in a list at the end. Let’s get into it.

Nursery Before

This space use to be my husband’s office, but was the best location for a nursery so we did a little switcheroo. In the rush of making this switch, I didn’t snag a photo of the office, but I did manage to get the walls following the wallpaper installation.

I love a good wallpaper, and still can’t stop staring at this one from Anthropologie. It was also super easy to install with a little help from my sister and husband of course. Let’s just say I acted as supervisor for the day.

While planning so many things in life at the time, I skipped a mood board, and opted for instincts and memory. Scary, I know! Although I couldn’t be more happy with the results, I don’t think I’ll ever do that again. Mood boards just bring so much organization to a design.

Amidst all the revisions I made in my own mind, I knew this for sure: that I wanted the nursery to charm and inspire the little lady coming our way. So everything I looked at I tried to consider how it would make her feel, along with how it would interact with the other pieces in the room.

Nursery After

After making this room come to life, I must say charm and inspiration are definitely what I feel walking into this room. It gives me all the good feels and based on the smiles and laughs I’ve shared with our little one in this room, I think I can safely assume she gets all the good feels too.

When I began designing I immediately began to imagine a feature wall with some sort of print or mural, and a basket pendant. Yes, I love basket pendants, as you may have guessed based on this DIY basket pendant tutorial. However, being pregnant did not inspire me to feed the need to DIY.

Instead, I spotted the IKEA Sinnerlig basket pendant, and I was a little obsessed. I knew it would be one of the pieces I built this space around. I also came across the wallpaper at Anthropologie and fell in love. It was the perfect backdrop for a chic, nature inspired space with a touch of whimsy.

Everything I looked at from then on seemed to lean towards playful yet sophisticated pieces inspired by nature. Woods, friendly animals, and a touch of green. Then things just fell into place after that, and this nature chic nursery was born.

The bunny prints were a perfect find, mixing playful and swanky. Plus I love how they slightly contrast with the wallpaper in style.

The crib was a Facebook marketplace score, that I still can’t believe I found.

When considering the dresser/changing table setup and design I determined a clean but warm design that stood out would complement the space. I also wanted to add more characteristics of nature, to tie in with the wallpaper and prints, so I opted for these adorable bunny pulls for the drawers.

The wood mirror is also a Target find that I couldn’t leave behind. Seriously, Target has the best affordable mirrors that don’t slack on the style. No promo here, just giving an honest opinion and tip. If you’re looking for a mirror check target before you spend a boatload of money.

Nature Theme Nursery Reveal White Dresser

Ever had to hand over money for something begrudgingly, then look back and thank the lucky stars that you did? That was my experience with the nursery dresser. I had my eyes set on a different (ahem, cheaper) dresser from IKEA, but they were sold out by the time I arrived.

Thank God my husband gets exhausted just thinking about another trip to IKEA with me, and proclaimed he was not coming back any time soon so we needed to find a dresser while we were there. We got the dresser above, and I’m so glad we did! It’s so solid, and has silent-shut drawers that I love.

They’ve discontinued this particular one, but the Hemnes option is similar with the same quiet shut drawers.
